About

I’m an Emmy, Peabody, and duPont Columbia award-winning documentary filmmaker, primarily focused on environmental conflict and migration. I run a production company called Documist with my best friends.

Most recently I produced Nuisance Bear (A24 / Sundance 2026 US Documentary Grand Jury Prize winner), which was expanded from our Oscar-shortlisted short film. I also produced The Territory (National Geographic / Sundance 2022), which won two Sundance awards, a Primetime Emmy for ‘Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking’, and a Peabody Award. It was also nominated for 7x Cinema Eye Awards, 3x Critics Choice Awards, a Gotham Award, and was Oscar-shortlisted. I’ve also produced and edited numerous short films, including Unsafe Passage (Guardian Documentaries / Emmy winner, NPPA Documentary of the Year); Squid Fleet (The New Yorker / Camerimage Golden Frog nominee); and Filmed in Gaza (NBC Digital Docs / 3x Emmy nominee, Peabody finalist, Webby nominee).

Before that, I worked primarily on short films and digital features for outlets including National Geographic, the Economist, The New York Times, The Guardian, The New Yorker, NBC, and BBC. I have also worked extensively for commercial and non-profit clients around the world.

One thing I truly enjoy is teaching and sharing the craft of documentary. I have given dozens of workshops and worked on a range of participatory multimedia projects in the US, Canada, Kenya, Haiti, the Philippines, and Brazil; from art projects for kids, to evidentiary techniques for human rights defenders, to masterclasses for aspiring cinematographers.

I’ve worked in over 30 countries and speak English and Spanish fluently, as well as Portuguese and French conversationally.
